Hardwood Exterior - WBP

General Description

Manufactured using a water resistant adhesive designed to withstand damp conditions. It is used for many outdoor applications including construction, sheds, roofing and cladding. Exterior plywoods can also be treated to become fire resistant. All sheet material used in external applications require additional protection, (paint, epoxy or varnish), to protect the outer veneers and edges.

Softwood Panels

General Description

A wide range of panels, mostly suitable for exterior uses, but generally of lower quality than hardwood panels. The range includes OSB (orientated strand board) which is made from softwood strands, and often used for building site hoardings due to low cost. Phenolic faces are available with a super smooth face suitable for concrete forming and other applications.

Marine

General Description

We stock the widest range of marine plywoods available in the UK. All are manufactured using exterior adhesives designed to withstand the most hostile of environments. Our range includes several types of marine plywood, along with a range of marine flooring and panelling products. We
are able to produce panels faced with any combination of veneer species and/or laminates on any thickness panel.

Birch Plywood

General Description

Birch is a very fine grained timber, and produces excellent veneers for plywood with smooth faces. Usually of multi-laminate construction, birch is available in a wide range of thickness, sheet sizes and adhesive type. Birch is particularly well suited to laser cutting and fine paint or varnish finishing.

Particle Boards and Composite Panels

MDF
Machines well and is particularly suitable for joinery work. MDF is available with many face veneers and comes in a wide range of sheet sizes and formats such as water resistant and fire proofed.

Main Uses: Furniture, Joinery, Interior panelling, Mouldings


Hardboard
A composite board made from fibre residuals saturated in a wet process and then compressed to make a sheet of which one side is smooth and the reverse meshed. It is available as a standard board, or oil tempered.

Main Uses: Wall Panelling, Floor Underlays, Door Panels, Decorative Panels


Chipboard

Made by bonding wood particles with an adhesive under heat and pressure to produce a board with a relatively smooth surface. Frequently used as a base board for veneering and melamine facing. Chipboard is also produced as a moisture resistant product for flooring.

Blockboard
Manufactured with a core of softwood strips placed edge to edge between veneers of hardwood and then bonded under high pressure. Most blockboard is suitable only for interior use and commonly used by the furniture industry as it can be produced with a wide range of face veneers.
